How do I join the club?

The easiest way to join the club is to just stop by on a Thursday evening. An officer of the club can get you signed up and collect your dues.

What does the club offer?

The club offers opportunities to play causal games as well as offical USCF tournament games. Blitz games are popular, but many games are played without a clock or with an agreed upon time setting. The club provides chess sets and clocks, but you are always welcome to bring your own. Some members often bring in their own exotic or well-crafted sets to exhibit. The club has lectures and presentations by experts or masters almost every week, and sometimes well-know chess personalities stop by. The TRCC has sponsored many exhibitions and presentations by some of the most famous players in the world, and intends to continue this tradition (Several World Champions have even visited the club). The chess cliub also holds United States Chess Federation Rated tournaments. You can even sign up to be a member of the United States Chess Federation (USCF) and the New Jersey Chess Federation (NJCF) at the club. Click here to see what else the club offers.

What are the rules of club membership?

Actually, we're quite a lawless bunch. If any member creates a disturbance or disturbs other players or observers, then we'll ask Edd Knowles to leave. Click here to see the club Bylaws.

What level of player do I have to be to join the club?

Any level of player is eligible to join the club. In fact, you don't even have to know how to play chess. We have members who are complete novices and members who are experts and masters. The more experienced players are always willing to teach those less knowledgeable than they are, and you can find someone to teach you how to play if you don't play chess but want to learn. If you just want to observe play, kibitz, etc.. You're welcome to do that, too.
